Hi Everyone! July 18, 2024
I’ll start with praises this week and we sure have some! The Parsons’ grandson John Bell was released from rehab on Tuesday and is back in his home with his wife, twin brother Jason and two adorable nieces, a party of 5! His recovery is a miracle and the family is thankful for that and for all of our prayers. Sharon calls him her Miracle Grandson. I’d have to agree. Keep praying for John throughout his recovery. John Sandquist had successful knee replacement surgery on Tuesday and was able to go home on Wednesday. John and Jeanie’s kids are stepping up to help their parents. They are thankful for our prayers. I’m not aware of any plan to take meals but if you are willing, text or call John in the next few days let him know. I’m sure they’d be appreciated. Grace Hammon is home and loving it! Carmen is taking some time off work to help her mom and Aunt Jo and I’ll just bet that Grace loves that! (We are all fans of Carmen too.) Sheri and Rodger Hood’s two daughters Kim and Tracie were in church on Sunday along with a granddaughter Kelcie and great grandson Jace. It was so nice to see them back in the church where they were raised. They will stay the week with their parents which makes Rodger and Sheri so happy! Welcome home Kim and Tracie! Mark Hershey sent good news this week He will have surgery on August 19th to cut out the surrounding tissue where the cancer was in his colon. He has a high percentage of the cancer never returning. He will have an MRI before the surgery to ensure that all lymph nodes are clear. His CT scan showed no cancer anywhere else but the MRI will further confirm that. His doctor said the surgery will be simple and he will be able to return to all normal functions within a month. What an answer to prayer! Keep them coming! Here's an update on our School Supply Fair. Remember I said I was anxious about not having enough money this year? Well, we asked and you answered. We should be just fine. We haven’t shopped yet but we will do that soon and keep you posted. Any extra money will be help with next year. We do need cookies either home baked our store purchased. Kids will normally choose an Oreo over a homemade chocolate chip cookie. What are they thinking? We still need some help especially escorts. Please sign up at church or contact me and I’ll put you on the list. The event will start at 10 but please arrive by 9. We will stay open as long as supplies last. If you’d like to donate a basket for the raffle, please let me know as soon as possible. If you would like to wear a shirt that says, “Work hard and be kind, that is all”, buy a shirt, put your name on the tag or pin it on and bring it to the church. Teresa will fix it up. Coffee With the Pastor is on Mondays from 2-5 at Bordertown Coffee in Gayway Junction. Why not pop in, visit with our pastor and have coffee or tea? She’ll even buy! Since we are in the middle of summer with extreme heat and smoke, let’s pray every day for the thousands of firefighters and crew protecting us. I know I whine about being hot but when I think of wearing all that gear and being next to actual fire, I don’t have the right to complain. I am thankful for what they do. Let’s pray for our country and our world. There is so much conflict and we are taught to pray so let’s get busy! And now from Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find; knock and it will be opened unto you.” God wants to bless us. He wants to guide us, lead us and teach us but he doesn’t often answer questions that we have never asked him. Blessings, Cris Payette United Methodist Church

The annual UMM golf tournament went on almost without a hitch! I’m pretty sure there were more people there than there were on church on Sunday! Although it was plenty hot, everyone involved had a great time and the lunch was great. The winning team consisted of Gary and Leslie Olson, Glenora Wright, Caleb Smith and Ty Waynetska. I’m almost certain that Deanna Carr won the poker run! Congrats to our winners and a giant thank you to Mike Hall for organizing this event every year and for everyone who helped him. You are appreciated! The July-August Edition of the Upper Room is available in the entryway. Let me know if you need help getting one. No one stepped forward to organize the PUMC cookbook so for now we’ll put that on hold. If you’d like to lead this project, it’s not too late. Just let me know. Our group of AA has invited us to their picnic this coming Saturday at noon in Kiwanis Park by the shelter. Bring something to share or just show up. It would be really nice if we were represented. It was very nice of them to invite us. This coming Sunday, June 30th will be Pastor Mary Beth’s last Sunday as our full-time pastor. We will be having a potluck after church. This will be a traditional potluck so bring whatever you’d like. Dalyce and Deanna, this is the week! Anne DeBord has made her way to McCall for the summer! If you’d like to beat the heat sometime this summer, travel to McCall and pay her a visit. Most days are good for her but avoid Wednesdays since that is the day she plays Bridge. Her mailing address in McCall is P.O. Box 195 McCall, ID 83638. Her cell number is 208-642-7610. The Blessing Pitcher will be out on Sunday for the last time. Danny’s classmate has been accepted to Vanderbilt Divinity College with a generous scholarship but it doesn’t include lodging for he and his family. If you’d like to write a check, make it out to our church and write refugee on the memo line. We are starting to plan our annual School Supply Fair. It’s a huge undertaking for us and it takes everyone to pull it off. We had such a great turnout last year and we have very few supplies left. If you plan to donate for this great event, we’d sure appreciate it sooner than later so that we can finalize our plans. We appreciate you! Please continue to pray for the Parsons’ grandson John. He was able to get out of ICU recently but went right back in after needing another surgery. He is battling fluid and blood clots in his lungs among so many other injuries. We need to keep praying for him throughout his recovery. Be thankful that he is young and healthy because this will be a long road for him. Grace Hammon is recovering in Payette Healthcare of Cascadia after a fall at home. She is receiving physical and occupational therapy there and is in good spirits. She is working hard so that she can regain her strength and return home. She’d love visitors and cards. The address is 1019 3rd Ave. S. room# 107 Payette, ID 83661. Clarity Farmer, the Steckley’s granddaughter and her mom, Deanna will travel to Portland on Thursday so Clarity can see a kidney specialist. Please pray for safe travels in a not-so-great car and for medical answers. Clarity was a member of our congregation for a time when she was a little kid so we have a special place in our hearts for her. Please Clarity and Deanna in your prayers. Karen Sagehorn is asking us to pray for her friend Kathy Lish whose husband Dale passed away this week. Continue to pray for the moms of Pastor Mary Beth (Nancy) and Danny Crego (Karen) who are both home from the hospital and recovering. Keep these folks on your prayer list: The Taylor Family, Hugh Homan, Jerry Hall, Lis Williamson, Irene Jeffries, Jill Hanigan, Anne DeBord, Noah Howard and Peyton. We hope to see you in church this Sunday for the service and the delicious potluck. If you don’t already do this this each morning here’s an idea. Every morning pray, “Lord, help me be a blessing today.” What a great way to start the day. Blessings, Cris Payette United Methodist Church

I’ve been loving these few days of cool weather but I see that not everyone feels the same. Joan from the exercise class showed up on Tuesday in a full-on winter coat! I had to laugh since I thought the weather was glorious! Soon we’ll be longing to put a coat or a sweatshirt on. We had an Ad. Board Meeting on Monday evening so I’ll start by updating you on what we learned there. We will have an annual checkup with the District Superintendent, Karen Hernandez on Saturday, August 24th at 2:30. Ad Board members and SPR folks, please put that on your calendar. Everyone is welcome to attend the check in. Middleton UMC will join us here. The Finance Committee reported that our giving has been consistently low for the past few months. We know that the prices for groceries, gas and just about everything have been high and that affects us. Starting in July our pastor will be half time and that will help with our expenses. We will revisit this issue every month and will keep you informed. Our annual School Supply Fair will be the morning of Saturday, August 3rd. Please save the date since we’ll need all hands-on deck. We are just getting organized but we do know we’ll need money. We have $85.00 and very few supplies left over. If you’d like to donate money for our important event please write School Supply Fair on the memo line on your check. We appreciate it. The SPR Committee will meet on Tuesday, June 25th at 7:00 p.m. All members of this committee are encouraged to attend. If you are on the texting prayer chain, you probably have noticed that it has been a bit messed up. There is a limit to how many people can be on a text chain. James is working with Glenora to get it cleaned up. If you are not on the chain and want to be, please let me know. Hopefully it will be fixed very soon. Details about the golf tournament are finalized for next Tuesday and it will be a lot of fun. The UMM added a fun poker run for the golfers and lunch only people. Arrive by noon if you want to join in. There is no cost for the poker run. We will have a potluck lunch on Sunday, June 30th. It will be Pastor Mary Beth’s last Sunday as our fulltime pastor and face it, we love food! This will be a traditional potluck so bring whatever you’d like. It will be delicious! On Saturday, July 13th we are planning a BBQ and will invite Middleton UMC. It will be starting at 1:00 so please save the date. We are asked to bring side dishes, salad and desserts. Since we aren’t having Sunday School this summer, the coffee shop is opening a bit later. If you need an exact time, please ask Mike Hall or Ed Parsons. Mike and Bonnie Hall don’t have access to email anymore. Please call them when you need to get in touch. Mike’s cell phone accepts text messages. Danny asked us to consider donating to a classmate of his from Santa Monica, California. He was accepted into Vanderbilt Divinity School and received a generous scholarship. He is an immigrant from Pakistan and has successfully navigated a complicated past. He needs help with lodging for his family. His local church has set up an account to help pay his living expenses. If you’d like to contribute to this man of God, please put your donation into the blessing pitcher which will be out for two weeks. If you you’d like to pay with a check, please make it out to PUMC and write refugee in the memo line. Glenora will write a check to his church for the total amount of the donation. Cash is fine too. If you can’t give you can pray for this family, please pray for Anjlo, Lubna and their 8-year-old daughter Mojza. Sheri Hood has been in touch with the Osborns recently and found out that Shannon has moved from the care center in Weiser and is living with her mom, Sue. Keep them both in your prayers. I have an update from the Parsons about their grandson John Bell. He is still in the ICU but is able to sit up for a bit and can breathe on his own but it is painful with broken ribs and a collapsed lung. This will be a long recovery for John. Keep his whole family in your prayers. Danny’s mom, Karen is home from the hospital but still has breathing issues. Keep her in your prayers. Pastor Mary Beth’s mom Nancy has been hospitalized with a bacterial infection. She is responding to antibiotics and had surgery on Wednesday. She will get another round of antibiotics and should be home in a few days. Keep Nancy and Scott in your prayers. Jana Schaffeld had a fall while taking her dog Dallas on a walk. It was all Dallas’ fault according to my source. Pray for quick and complete healing for Jana. Dallas is just fine! Please keep these folks on your prayer list: Clarity, Noah Howard, the Taylor Family, Peyton, Anne DeBord, Jill Hanigan, Irene Jeffries, Lis Williamson, Hugh Homan, Jerry Hall and Grace Hammon. James and Pastor Mary Beth are in Tigard, Oregon for the UMC Annual Conference. Please keep them in your prayers as well as all the people traveling for this important conference. Danny Crego will step up to lead us this Sunday as well as deliver the sermon. As we heard from our pastor last Sunday, she is sometimes asked this question. “Have we failed? Why can’t we keep a full-time pastor?” We have not failed. We continue to serve our community and our church. We will continue to do just that and we will be just fine! Count on it! I hope to see you on Sunday. Let’s fill those pews! Blessings, Cris
Hi Everyone! June 13, 2024
The moving truck is here taking the Community Closet to its new location. I’m sad about this for a couple of reasons. I have loved having community people in and out all morning walking out feeling better than when they walked in. And maybe most of all I loved getting to know Mike and Bonnie’s daughter Teresa better. It will be lonelier around here for sure. The Community Closet’s new location is in the administrative offices for Payette School District. The building is on Center Ave that used to be Eastside Elementary. Here's a big thank you from the Trustee Committee to everyone who helped spruce up the church inside and out this spring. If you still plan to accomplish your task that’s fine and if you didn’t get a chance to help, never fear.. we’ll do it again in the fall. Some of you might have missed Shane Wright sporting a new gold medal around his neck on Sunday! His basketball team took first place in Special Olympics in Caldwell last Saturday. Tell Shane congrats if you get a chance. James and Pastor Mary Beth are back in Idaho where they belong. From all accounts they had a great time in Ohio and were able to meet with family and friends. Our pastor will be back in the pulpit this Sunday and James will be on his guitar! Welcome home! Don’t forget about the golf tournament on Tuesday, June 25th! We received an invitation to a concert Stars and Stripes featuring the Liberty Quartet. It will be on June 30th at 6:00 p.m. at Valley Shepherd Nazarene Church in Meridian. I posted the invitation on the bulletin board. I have an update on the Parsons’ grandson John following his accident last week. He had his last surgery and is breathing unassisted. All of his injuries will require time to heal on their own. He will be moving to rehab soon to continue his healing journey. The whole Parsons family thanks everyone for all of the prayers. Keep the prayers coming because his will be a long journey. We have a new urgent prayer request. Danny’s mom Karen has been admitted to the hospital for low oxygen levels and problems with kidney function. Please keep Danny and his dad Joe along with the whole family in your prayers. Lyna Wilkins asks that we keep praying for her friend Peggy Roach. She is fighting cancer. Keep these folks on your prayer list: Ron and Brenda Pennington, Peyton, Irene Jeffries, Jerry Hall, Hugh Homan, Anne DeBord, Jill Hanigan, Lis Williamson, Clarity, Noah Howard, Grace Hammon and the Taylor Family. Thanks to everyone for praying for my family as we had the graveside service on Saturday for my sister’s husband Bill. Everything went well and we were all glad to be together. My nephew Rick and his family are traveling back to St. Louis this week so keep them in your prayers. We are all blessed today with the gift of life. Thank God and let’s make something good today. Help others who need it. Think of others who are less fortunate. One positive thought can change your whole day! We hope to see you in church on Sunday. Let’s fill the pews! Blessings, Cris Payette United Methodist Church

Keep praying for these folks: Clarity, Hugh Homan, Irene Jeffries, Peyton, Shannon Osborn, Jerry Hall, Anne DeBord, Grace Hammon, the Taylor Family and Noah Howard. Please remember this promise….. light shines out of the darkness. Blessings, Cris Veni Sancti Spiritus by Adam Kossowski

Ron and I returned safely from our trip to the Midwest. We were blessed to spend time with Ron’s brother Jim just a few days before he passed away peacefully. The last time I saw Jim I prayed for peace for him. We spent lots of time with Ron’s other siblings and we were all together when we heard of Jim’s passing. Thanks for all of your prayers for so many months. We all appreciate it. On Tuesday I worked at the American Legion Hall for the Idaho Primary Election. I’m always so proud of the Idahoans who show up to vote no matter what. We had a big crowd and no drama so that’s a win. My fellow poll workers do the job because they love our country and state. If you get a chance, thank a poll worker. I have more information about the UMM Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 25th. Golfers should arrive by 9:15 to sign up and pay for a 10:00 tee time. Folks who just want to eat lunch after the tournament should arrive by 12:30. We will need a list of golfers and those joining us for lunch. Please call or email the office as soon as possible. I will have prices very soon. Danny Crego will be taking the summer off as the Sunday School teacher. His last day of teaching until fall will be this coming Sunday, May 26th. If anyone is willing to step up to take his place for the summer, please let us know as soon as possible. If you have completed your spring cleanup task, please mark it off of the list. Several items have been marked off and we all say thank you for that! Caleb Smith had some good news for us on Sunday. He passed his CNA skills test! Great job Caleb, we are proud of you! Carmen Kumagai and her husband Dale celebrated the 50-year anniversary of their first date last week. Congrats Carmen and Dale! We had some prayer requests this week. Lyna asks us to pray for her friend Allen who had a stroke recently and has a cancer diagnosis. Please continue to pray for her friend Peggy Roach. Pastor Mary Beth asks us to pray for Rory. Danny would like prayers for his mom’s friend who had a stroke recently. Our friend Karen Sagehorn is asking us to pray for her son and his wife. They are going through fertility treatments in their attempt to have a baby. They will try adoption if needed. Please pray for their efforts and processes and for any new life and adopted children. Please continue to pray for the Steckley’s granddaughter Clarity, Hugh Homan, Peyton, Anne DeBord, Irene Jeffries, Shannon Osborn, Lis Williamson, Jerry Hall, Grace Hammon, the Taylor Family, Noah Howard and Roxanne Irwin. We did have a good trip but I’m so glad to be back home! We traveled so many safe miles and I’m thankful for that. It will be good to be back in church. See you Sunday, Blessings, Cris May 15, 2024 Hello everyone! Ron and Cris Warzyn are on a well deserved vacation this week visiting with Ron’s family! While Cris is out, I (Pastor Mary Beth) am covering for her in the office. She will return on May 22nd. Last Sunday, we celebrated the Feast of the Ascension on the last Sunday of Easter. To continue to be an Easter people, we are a people who preach a change of heart and life, and we start by changing our hearts and lives. And we are able to do this because God changes us. Thanks be to God! This coming Sunday, we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. The artwork outside of our sanctuary will be replaced with Pentecost artwork. Another thing we are doing to celebrate Pentecost this year is decorating our sanctuary windows with the Lord’s Prayer in 41 different languages. Acts 2 tells us that on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon God’s people and everyone began to praise God in different languages, yet everyone was able to understand each other! This story is a sort of reversing of what happened with the Tower of Babel. Instead of different languages being a source of division, on Pentecost, the Spirit uses different languages to bring God’s people together. It is a beautiful story that reminds us once again that God is for all people. So to remember this, we have the Lord’s Prayer in 41 different languages outside our sanctuary. We may not be able to understand all 41 languages, but it is the same prayer, and how beautiful that is! One Pentecost tradition a lot of churches observe is to wear red to church that Sunday, so you are encouraged to wear red on Sunday! There are some exciting things happening through our church! This Saturday, May 18th, we will have a float in the Payette Apple Blossom Festival Parade! We will decorate our float with our “You Matter” signs, some flags, and some balloons. The theme for the festival is Mardi Gras, so we also have some masks for our participants to wear and we have beaded necklaces to hand out. I am excited to be the church that tells people they matter! If you are available on Saturday, you are encouraged to join the parade! You can either walk alongside the float and hand out necklaces OR ride on the trailer (there is a ramp). The parade lineup is at 10:45 AM on Saturday on 3rd Ave. N. (in front of the courthouse/Primary School). Our UMM is hosting the annual Best Ball Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Juny 25th at Scotch Pines Golf Course in Payette. The tournament will start around 10 AM and lunch will be served afterwards. If you do not want to golf but still want to join, plan to come to lunch! Monday Morning Coffee is on hiatus until Monday, July 8th. For those of you who do not know, I am currently working on a Masters in Education through Arizona State University (online). This is a fairly short program designed for people who work full time, so it is perfect for me! Part of this program involves interning and student teaching, and over the summer session (which begins this week), I am doing a preschool internship at Nampa UMC’s Kid’s Stuff Early Learning Center. For the next six weeks, I’ll be at my internship almost every Monday, so coffee is on hiatus until I complete the internship. There is a complete schedule of my summer internship on the green board in the church office if you want to know which mornings I will be at the school. On the days when I am at the school, I will be there from 8:00-1:00. I’ll spend the afternoons working for the church either from a coffee shop or in my office, and I’ll be available via phone or email. If you have any questions for me about this, please reach out! Also, while Monday coffee is on a break, I would still love to have coffee with you! If you’d like to set up a time to caffeinate and chat, just let me know. We have several prayer requests this week: We learned from the Elks Lodge that Stan Pierce passed away in 2023. Please pray for his family. Bob and Macy Steckley’s granddaughter, Clarity, has a mass on her kidney. She will be traveling to Portland for further answers. Please pray for Clarity and her family. Rudy Boyd’s daughter, Judy, passed away. Please pray for the Boyd family. We continue to hold the Sandquist family in prayer as they have been traveling and moving. Pray for Ron and Cris Warzyn as they travel to visit Ron’s brother, Jim. Please pray for some friends of myself and James, the Taylor family. Please continue to pray for the family and friends of Gene Winchester who was killed in his home recently. Pray for Roxanne Irwin to find comfort in the midst of back and knee pain, and pray for her doctors to find answers for her. And continue to pray for Peggy Roach, Hugh Homan, Lis Williamson, Shannon Osborn, Anne DeBord, Irene Jeffries, Jim Warzyn, Jerry Hall, Grace Hammon, Noah Howard, and Peyton. We also have some praises this week! On Sunday, Brandon Baumler told us his grandfather was going to have another procedure. Brandon updated yesterday that his grandfather is doing well and out of the hospital! Thank you for your prayers! Shannon Osborn celebrated a birthday this week as well! Happy birthday, Shannon! As we prepare for Pentecost, we are reminded that the Holy Spirit encounters us in many different ways that speak to us. May you encounter the Spirit anew this week and forevermore. May the God of grace bless you, keep you, and give you peace. Grace and peace, Pastor Mary Beth

I guess I can’t call sending the newsletter early rare anymore. Ron and I are heading to Illinois and Wisconsin to visit his family for a few days. We will see 6 of his 7 siblings on this trip so we are looking forward to that. Suddenly I will be the one with the accent! Pastor Mary Beth will fill in for me while I’m gone. Please contact Pastor Mary Beth on her cell phone if you need help while I’m gone. Call Glenora in an emergency. Sheri and Rodger Hood received the best news last week. Their grandson Josh Seals rang the bell after his last appointment with the cancer doctors. He has been deemed cancer free! We have been praying for Josh for a few months after he was diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks before his wedding. Let’s not take him off of our prayer lists, instead keep praying for him to have a wonderful, healthy life. Praise God! Caleb Smith invited us to PHS Outdoor Band Concert at Kiwanis Park in Payette at 6:30 tonight (Wednesday). Bring your chair (and blanket maybe) and enjoy music in the park. I’m sure Caleb will be glad to see you there! The Finance Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 14th at noon in the fellowship hall. The Apple Blossom Parade will be on Saturday, May 18th. We should arrive on 3rd Ave. by the Primary School by 10:45 to get settled on the float. If you are on the fence about this event, please try hard to say yes. We will be visible to the community with very little effort. Please get your black shirts to the office so that Teresa can make you a You Matter shirt to wear ASAP. The United Methodist Church’s General Conference is over. The delegates wrapped up on Saturday and were pleased to remove the last of harmful language in the Book of Discipline. We appreciate the delegates’ time, hard work and energy. PUMC received a Gold Star from Etha, our Sage District Administrative Assistant for completing the annual financial audit and the Fund Balance Report ahead of schedule. Our finance team arranged to have all of this accomplished and we appreciate them. An extra big thanks to Bob Steckley for his efforts. During worship on Sunday, we practiced Lectio Divina which means divine reading. Pastor Mary Beth led us through the process of learning the passage of John 15:9-7. We heard different versions and then gathered in small groups to discuss what we heard. I heard that I should never stop walking this road of love. I also learned that Jesus said, “You may think you chose me but I am the one who chose you and you remain in my love.” We may be practicing Lectio Divina in the future when our pastor switches to half time. I personally loved it! During the service, Pastor Mary Beth gave Danny a gift from us. It was a set of New Testament Commentaries that he will definitely need now that he has graduated seminary. We were able to buy this gift with donations from you. They are much appreciated by Danny. In his thank you to us, Danny said that he walked in our doors ten years ago and that it changed his life. He said we became his family and that he wouldn’t be where he is without us. We love you too Danny! We have some prayer requests this week. Please pray for the family and friends of Gene Winchester. He was a friend of Ed Parsons. He was killed in his home recently. Please pray for John and Jeanie Sandquist as they travel to Oregon with their kids to pack up John’s sister’s house. They are still in the middle of their own move so it will be taxing on them all. Keep Roxanne Irwin in your prayers. She is battling a bad back and now maybe a bad knee that has already been replaced. Pray for safe travels for her trips to appointments and for wisdom for her doctors as they figure out exactly what to do to help her. Lyna Wilkins asks us to keep praying for her friend Peggy Roach. She has cancer and diabetes. Keep these folks on your prayer list: Hugh Homan, Lis Williamson, Shannon Osborn, Anne DeBord, Irene Jeffries, Jim Warzyn, Jerry Hall, Grace Hammon, the Taylor Family, Noah Howard and for Peyton. I will miss seeing you for a couple of weeks. Please pray for safe travels for us! I was watching a video from our bishop and he quoted, “As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after you.” That is my prayer. Blessings, Cris Payette United Methodist Church

The annual golf tourney hosted by the UMM will be on Tuesday, June 25th. Save the date! Hi Everyone! May 2,2024 Our own Shane Wright was in a Special Olympics basketball tournament last Saturday and he came home with a first-place medal! He reported to me that he made more than 20 points during the tournament. When asked if he let other people shoot, he said, “Yes, that’s how we do it.” Don’t you love that? Please continue to support Special Olympics when you have a chance. There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Larry Jeffries this coming Saturday at Scotch Pines Golf Course from 4-9. We are partnered with the Payette School District as an evacuation site for the Primary School. In the event that they must evacuate, a plan is in place for the students and staff to walk here. All the details are worked out and they will practice next Monday morning. I want to let you know just in case you happen to see hundreds of kids walking to our church. Our job is to pray that evacuation is never necessary! Don’t forget to sign up for a Spring All Church Cleanup task if you are able. If everyone can just do one thing, we’ll have this place whipped into shape in no time! If you plan on riding on our float or walking behind you might want a You Matter T- shirt to wear. Just bring a black T shirt to the office and Teresa will fix it up for you. Put your name on the label or pin it to the shirt and we’ll get it back to you. Bring the shirts as soon as you can. Remember that this Sunday the UMM will be offering a baked potato and chili lunch right after church. They will accept donations. The United Methodist Church General Conference is still in session. Danny announced on Sunday that “the Methodist Church now proclaims its support for the equal rights, liberties and protections of all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.” I’m proud of us for loving all people! Our District Superintendent, Rev. Karen Hernandez visited us after church on Sunday to officiate our Charge Conference. She asked us to reassure the Middleton UMC folks that they will be just fine with a half time pastor. She knows that we have experience with part time pastors. If you’d like to send a note to the congregation in Middleton, their address is 104 E Main St, Middleton, ID 83644. Send an encouraging note if you can. Let them know that Pastor Mary Beth will take care of them! Danny Crego will be celebrating his seminary graduation at church on Sunday. Annie will serve cake this Sunday to honor him. The Tuesday Bible Study class had the idea for us to bring congratulation cards for Danny. So, bring a card if you can! We have some prayer requests this week. Please pray for the Cannon family from Vale. Their 17-year-old died in a car wreck and their 13-year-old is in the hospital. Please pray for Danny’s family. His 14-year-old nephew died from suicide. What a heart-breaking situation. Keep them on your prayer list for a very long time. Annie’s uncle Kent passed away recently. Keep this family in your prayers. Continue to pray for John and Jeanie Sandquist and their kids who are helping them move. Tina Wright’s 10-year-old grandson, Noah has recently been diagnosed as having Type 1 Diabetes. Please keep Noah and his family in your prayers as they all learn how to treat this disease. Anne DeBord asks that we pray for her friend Jill Hanigan and Anne’s granddaughter Ayla. They both need prayers for healing. Keep these people on your prayer list: Peyton, Grace Hammon, Josh, Lexi, Jerry Hall, Jim Warzyn, Irene Jeffries, Anne DeBord, Lis Williamson, Hugh Homan, Shannon Osborn and the Taylor Family. We were reminded this in church last Sunday: How do we remain in Christ? We love! That doesn’t mean just the loveable people. So, be thinking and praying about this: Who do I need to learn to love? Have a great rest of the week and we hope to see you on Sunday! Blessings, Cris This is called Jesus Mural of Faith, Hope, Love, and Peace (Author Unknown)

One of our Idaho State Representatives, Sue Chew passed away last week with cancer. I didn’t know her or even follow her but she left this advice behind. “Be open to folks that are different than you and also just love each other. None of us is perfect.” To me that is so simple and profound at the same time. Rest in peace Sue Chew. On a lighter note, I think you should hear this story. Teresa Beer’s friend called to let her know that she had some plastic Easter eggs that she was giving away. Of course, Teresa said yes to the eggs. Guess how many eggs we have in room 5 not including the ones we already had. 4,032! That’s a lot of eggs! At least we have a year to decide their fate. The May-June editions of The Upper Room are available in the entryway. Let me know if you need help getting here to get one. The Trustee Committee met last week and decided to have a spring All Church Cleanup. It will be accomplished as it was the past couple of years. Sign up for a task, complete it and mark it off the list. You can come whenever you’d like instead of meeting on a Saturday morning. Please bring your own tools and cleaning supplies. The lists will be out on Sunday morning or you can call the office and let me know what you’d like to do. Thanks so much in advance! Remember that we will have a quick Charge Conference after church this Sunday to approve Pastor Mary Beth’s compensation package since she will be changing to a half time position. Everyone is invited to this meeting. Have you noticed that our former playground is being improved? The UMM have been working hard to change it from a patch of weeds to beautiful lawn. They are on the home stretch now with just a few sprinkler issues needing attention and then they will plant grass. The UMM is using their money and labor and we appreciate it! The United Methodist Church’s General Conference started on Tuesday of this week in Charlotte, South Carolina. Please pray for safe travels for all and for wisdom and good decisions. Please keep John and Jeanie Sandquist in your prayers as they prepare to move to their new house in Fruitland. There is a lot involved in this move and they can use your prayers and maybe even some help. Stay tuned! I’m asking for prayers for Lexi from Boise. We have prayed for her in the past through her two kidney transplants and now she is having cardiac issues. Her mom knew we prayed for her before and asks for prayer again. I told her we were on it! Bonnie Hall’s sister-in-law Sigrid lost her mother last week and Bonnie asks us to pray for Sigrid and the whole family. Let’s hold up our world in prayer. There is so much conflict, brokenness and suffering going on right now. Let’s pray every day for solutions. Keep these folks on your prayer list: Hugh Homan, Anne DeBord, Jerry Hall, Jim Warzyn, the Taylor family, Irene Jeffries, Shannon Osborn, Lis Williamson, Josh, Grace Hammon and Peyton. We need volunteers to ride on the float on May 18th. Let’s let Payette know what PUMC is all about! It will be fun! Today may there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you be confident knowing you are a child of God. I have so many things to tell you about this week. This Saturday is Game Night at the Boesch’s! It starts at 5:00 p.m. Bring your favorite game and a snack to share. It will be fun! We are planning a quick Charge Conference after church on Sunday, April 28th to approve Pastor Mary Beth’s compensation package starting July 1st since she will move to a half time position with us then. Everyone is invited to attend this meeting. It will last just a few minutes. It’s springtime so that makes it pickleball time! We’ll put the net up as soon as someone is ready to play. Just let me know. On May 5th our UMM will serve a baked potato and chili lunch after church. A free will offering will be collected. Plan on coming to lunch on May 5th and leave the cooking to the guys! I visited with John Sandquist this week and he shared the news that he and Jeanie have purchased a home in Fruitland and will start the process of moving soon. The new home is smaller and is on one level which will make it easier for everyone. Downsizing the amount of work will be a blessing for John and Jeanie. They will eventually sell their home on the second most famous Pennsylvania Ave in the country! Stay tuned….they might need help. The UMM will be hosting the annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 25th at Scotch Pines Golf Course in Payette. This is always a fun event for golfers and non-golfers alike. It will be a best ball tourney which means just someone in your group needs to be good. If you’d like to get in on the action but not golf, you can join us for lunch afterwards. I will have details about cost and start time in the near future. Tom and Anita Montgomery, we’d love for you to join us again! When the Ad Board met this week, we finalized the plans for the float in the Apple Blossom Parade on May 18th. We will borrow Glenora’s trailer, Ken will find us some bales to sit on, we have some decorations ordered and we will be giving out Mardi Gras necklaces along the parade route. It sounds so fun! The trailer has a ramp so it will be easy on and off. Please plan to join us. We were honored to host the funeral for Jean Stephan last Saturday. She and Bill were a big part of our church for many years. The family asks for prayers for travel mercies as they all head home and for healing. Grace Hammond is doing better but can still use your prayers. Her sister Jo just had cataract surgery on both eyes. Pray for continued healing for both. The Tres Dias women will be heading to McCall for their weekend this Thursday. Please pray for safe travels for all and for a blessed event. (We may have some of their cars in our parking lot over the weekend.) Please pray for Mike’s brother Jerry and his family. He has been fighting mesothelioma and now the doctors aren’t able to help with treatment anymore. Ron’s brother Jim who has been fighting cancer isn’t doing well at all. We are praying that he isn’t in pain. We will travel to Wisconsin in May and hope to be able to spend some time with him. Please keep the whole family in your prayers. Pastor Mary Beth asks us to pray for the Taylor family. Keep the family of Cory Lopez in your prayers. He was 27 and passed away recently. He leaves his wife Morgan. Continue to pray for Peyton as she fights cancer again, Lyna Wilkins, Anne DeBord, Irene Jeffries, Shannon Osborn, Lis Williamson, Hugh Homan, and Josh. Have a great rest of your week and we hope to see you in church on Sunday! May your day be filled with God’s blessings, Cris Christ Appears at the Table by di Buoninsegna Duccio
