Welcome and Announcements

“The Family of God”
I’m so glad I’m a part
of the family of God -
I’ve been washed in the fountain,
cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus
as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
the family of God.

Hymn: “Create in Me a Clean Heart”
Create in me a clean heart, Oh God
and renew a right spirit within me.
Create in me a clean heart, O God
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy Presence, Oh Lord
and take not thy Holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me
the joy of thy Salvation,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Responsive Reading                      From Psalm 48

Leader: Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God.
People: We ponder your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple
All:  Your name, O God, like your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth.

Unison Invocation
Almighty God, we ask you,
who walked among us in the person of Jesus of Nazareth and now accompanies us through the Holy Spirit, to turn the places we live into strongholds of your grace, that the most vulnerable as well as the most powerful among us may find peace in the security that comes in the strong name of Jesus Christ.  Amen

Hymn: They’ll Know We Are Christians                TFWS #2223
We are one in the Spirit,
we are one in the Lord,
we are one in the Spirit,
we are one in the Lord,
and we pray that all unity
may one day be restored.

(Chorus)
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;
yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

We will walk with each other,
we will walk hand in hand,
we will walk with each other,
we will walk hand in hand,
and together we’ll spread the news that God in our land:
(Chorus)

We will work with each other,
we will work side by side,
we will work with each other,
we will work side by side,
and we’ll guard human dignity and save human pride:

Commitment Hymn: “The Church’s One Foundation”          UMH#545

The church's one foundation
is Jesus Christ her Lord;
she is his new creation
by water and the Word.
From heaven he came
and sought her, to be his holy bride;
with his own blood he bought her,
and for her life he died.

Elect from every nation,
yet one o'er all the earth;
her charter of salvation,
one Lord, one faith, one birth;
one holy name she blesses,
partakes one holy food,
and to one hope she presses,
with every grace endued.

Mid toil and tribulation,
and tumult of her war,
she waits the consummation
of peace forevermore;
till, with the vision glorious,
her longing eyes are blest,
and the great church victorious
shall be the church at rest.

The Communion Service
Our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.
Let us confess our sin before God and one another.

Prayer of Confession and Pardon
Merciful God,
We confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart.
Our faith has been tested
and we have stumbled.
Our feet have strayed
from the path of Christ
and we have wandered from you.
We have put our faith
in the loud voices of this world,
ignoring your whispers.
Forgive us, we pray.
We do want to follow Jesus, the Christ, in whose name we pray.
Amen.

(Leader)
Hear the good news:
Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. That proves Gods love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
Glory to God, Amen.

Bread and Cup

Unison Prayer:
Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Strengthen us in mind, body and soul for the days ahead. May your Spirit fill us as we live and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Closing Song   “Bind Us Together”    TFWS#2226
Bind us together Lord
Bind us together
with chords
that cannot be broken
Bind us together Lord
Bind us together Lord
Bind us together with Love

There is only one God,
There is only one King.
There is only one Body
That is why we can sing.

Bind us together Lord
Bind us together
with chords
that cannot be broken
Bind us together Lord
Bind us together Lord
Bind us together with Love

Benediction

May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you wherever he may send you.
May he guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.

Message:    “I Pray for You”      Ephesians 3:14-21

Closing Hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”    UMH#526 all vs.

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you
You will find a solace there.

Benediction:
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.

May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders he has shown you.

Hymn “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us"      UMH#381 vs 1
Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
much we need thy tender care;
in thy pleasant pastures feed us,
for our use thy folds prepare.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.

Responsive Reading                                             Psalm 23:1-4

Leader: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
People: The Lord makes me lie down in green pastures, leads me beside still waters, restores my soul.
Leader: He leads me in paths of righteousness for the sake of his name.
People: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil.
All: For you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Unison Invocation
Here we are Father, ready to sing and pray and read and be together in Your presence. Please fill this room and our hearts with Your Spirit. Help us to sense the power of the risen Christ and we pray in his name.
Amen.

Hymn: “God of Grace and God of Glory”  UMH#577 vs. 1,4
God of grace and God of glory,
on thy people pour thy power;
crown thine ancient church's story,
bring her bud to glorious flower.
Grant us wisdom,
grant us courage,
for the facing of this hour,
for the facing of this hour.

Save us from weak resignation
to the evils we deplore;
let the search for thy salvation
be our glory evermore.
Grant us wisdom,
grant us courage,
serving thee whom we adore,
serving thee whom we adore.

Hymn “Come and Find the Quiet Center”                TFWS#2128 vs 1,3
Come and find the quiet center
in the crowded life we lead,
find the room for hope to enter,
find the frame where we are freed:
clear the chaos and the clutter,
clear our eyes, that we can see
all the things that really matter,
be at peace, and simply be.

In the Spirit let us travel,
open to each other's pain,
let our loves and fears unravel,
celebrate the space we gain:
there's a place for deepest dreaming,
there's a time for heart to care,
in the Spirit's lively scheming
there is always room to spare!

Jesus keep me from all wrong
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk
close to Thee

Chorus:
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world
of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord,
none but Thee..

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore,
to Thy shore.

Hymn “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee"                  UMH# 89 vs 1,4
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like
flowers before Thee,
opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of
sin and sadness;
drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
fill us with the light of day!

Mortals, join the mighty chorus,
which the morning stars began;
Love devine is reigning o’er us,
binding all within it’s span.
Ever singing, march we onward,
victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us Sunward
in the triumph song of life.

Responsive Reading from Psalm 24
Leader: The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established upon the waters.
People: Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
Leader: The one who has clean hands and a pure heart; who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. God is at their side; with God’s help they will make it.
People: Who is this King of glory?
All: The Lord Almighty! He is the King of glory.

Unison Invocation
Renew you church, Lord, your people in this land.
Save us from cheap words and self-deception in your service.
In the power of your Spirit transform us, and shape us by your cross.  Amen.

Hymn: “Open Our Eyes”     TFWS#2086
Open our eyes, Lord,
We want to see Jesus,
To reach out
and touch him,
and say that we love him.
Open our eyes, Lord,
And help us to listen.
Open our eyes, Lord,
We want to see Jesus.

More love to thee, O Christ,
More love to thee!
Hear thou the prayer I make
On bended knee.
This is my earnest plea:
More love, O Christ, to thee;
More love to thee,
More love to thee!

Once earthly joy I craved,
Sought peace and rest;
Now thee alone I seek,
Give what is best.
This all my prayer shall be:
More Love, O Christ, to thee;
More love to thee,
More love to thee!

Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me
after thy will,
while I am waiting,
yielded and still.

Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Search me and try me,
Savior today!
Wash me just now, Lord
Wash me just now,
As in thy presence
Humbly I bow.

Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary,
Help me I pray!
Fill with thy Spirit
Till all shall see
Christ only, always,
Living in me!

Benediction:
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you

May he guide you through the wilderness,

Hymn: “Morning Has Broken”      UMH#145 vs.1,3
Morning has broken
like the first morning
Angels are singing
like the first day
Praise for the singing,
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing
Fresh from the word.

Mine is the sunlight,
Mine is the morning
born of the one light
Eden saw play
Praise with elation,
praise every morning
God's re-cre-a-tion
of the new day

Responsive Reading                      From Psalm 48
Leader: Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of     our God.

Hymn: “God Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens” UMH#150 vs.1,2
God, who stretched
the spangled heavens,
infinite in time and place,
flung the suns in burning radiance
through the silent fields of space,
we your children, in your likeness,
share inventive powers with you.
Great Creator, still creating,
Show us what we yet may do.

Proudly we rise our modern cities,
stately buildings, row on row;
yet their windows, blank, unfeeling,
stare on canyoned streets below,
where the lonely drift unnoticed
in the city's ebb and flow,
lost to purpose and to meaning,
scarcely caring where they go.

Hymn “Come Thou Fount”  UMH#400 vs. 1,2,3

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy unchanging love

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Here there by Thy
great help I've come
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let that grace now, like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Message:    “My Grace is Sufficient”    2 Corinthians 12:2-10

Farewell

Leader
The church is a family.
United by the common recognition of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, we are all sisters and brothers.
And, for a time, Payette First is our home.
Like every family, our church family is formed and reformed over time; as members are born, as they die, as members are adopted into our family and as they leave our congregation for a new home in a different place.
For a time, Annie and Danny Crego lived and served with us.
Together we have laughed and cried, together we have worshiped and praised God. Together we have lived.

Congregation
We feel sad because you are leaving, yet we rejoice with you in anticipation of this new phase of life.
We will miss your love and support, yet we know you will add much to the lives of those who will be your new church family.

Congregational Prayer
O God, you are the strength and the protector of your people.
We place Danny and Annie in your hands as they leave us.
Keep and preserve them, O Lord, in health and safety, both of body and soul.
We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The Communion Service
Our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.
Let us confess our sin before God and one another.

Closing Song   “His Eye is on the Sparrow”    UMH #617 all vs.
Why should I feel discouraged?
why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely,
and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant friend is He:

(Chorus)
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,

and I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Let not your heart be troubled
His tender word I hear
And resting on His goodness
I lose my doubts and fears
I draw Him closer to me
My constant friend is He
: (Chorus)

Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When song gives place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to him;
From care he sets me free
(Chorus)
