Message: “Joined and Held Together” Ephesians 4:1-16 Commitment Hymn: “The Church’s One Foundation” UMH#545 The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; she is his new creation by water and the Word. From heaven he came and sought her, to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died. Elect from every nation, yet one o'er all the earth; her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth; one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued. Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace forevermore; till, with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest. The Communion Service Our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Let us confess our sin before God and one another. Prayer of Confession and Pardon Merciful God, We confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. Our faith has been tested and we have stumbled. Our feet have strayed from the path of Christ and we have wandered from you. We have put our faith in the loud voices of this world, ignoring your whispers. Forgive us, we pray. We do want to follow Jesus, the Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen. (Leader) Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. That proves Gods love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God, Amen. Bread and Cup Unison Prayer: Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Strengthen us in mind, body and soul for the days ahead. May your Spirit fill us as we live and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
