Chip Johnson serves as the pastor of PUMC, bringing a warm, authentic, and relational approach to ministry. His pastoral leadership is honest, welcoming, rooted in Scripture, and open to the surprising ways God shows up in everyday stories. Chip blends careful biblical scholarship with a sense of humor and levity, helping people explore faith with curiosity rather than certainty, and curating worship that is participatory, grounded, and genuinely hopeful.
Chip also leads the Center for Pastoral Direction and Mentorship, offering safe, reflective spaces for pastors and ministry leaders. His diverse background—from river guiding to teaching to pastoral leadership—has shaped a ministry style that values presence over performance and connection over perfection. Chip and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 31 years and are enjoying this season of life with their two grown children and two overgrown dogs. email here
