“The Family of God”

I’m so glad I’m a part
of the family of God -
I’ve been washed in the fountain,
cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus
as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
the family of God.

Hymn    “We Sing of Your Glory"   TFWS#2011 vs. 1,2,4
We sing of your glory,
our honor we bring.
For you are eternal,
amen, amen.

To you be the power,
our tribute we bring
For you are eternal,
amen, amen.

"Glory in the highest,
on earth," sing again.
Glory Alleluia
Amen. Amen

Responsive Reading                      From Psalm 130

Leader: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice~
People: Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
Leader: If you, O Lord, kept a record of iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
People: But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
Leader: I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
All: My soul waits for the Lord.

Unison Prayer
Loving God,
Open our ears to hear your word and draw us closer to you.
We confess our need to be here and the promise that Jesus will somehow be here as well.
We pray in his name.  Amen.

Hymn “We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise”  TFWS#2031 x2
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.

And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving;
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy.

Jesus to Calv’ry did go
His love for sinners to show
What he did there

Hymn: “To God Be the Glory”  UMH#98 vs.1,3
To God be the glory,
great things He has done;
So loved He the world
that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life
an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate
that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father,
through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory,
great things He has done.

Great things he has taught us,
Great things he has done,
And great our rejoicing
Thru Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher,
And greater will be
Our wonder,
our transport
When Jesus we see!

The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Unison Prayer
O God our Father, who sent your Son to be King of kings and Lord of lords;
we pray that all the kingdoms of this world may become His kingdom
and learn from him the way to live as Your children.
In His name we pray. Amen.

Old Testament Reading - 1 Samuel 17:32-37
Gospel Reading - Mark 4:35-41

God’s Word for God’s People.  Thanks be to God!

Hymn    “Stand By Me”    UMH#512 vs. 1,2,3
When the storms of life are raging,
stand by me (stand by me).
when the storms of life are raging,
stand by me (stand by me).
When the world is tossing me
like a ship upon the sea,
thou who rulest wind and water,
Stand by me (stand by me).

In the midst of tribulation,
stand by me (stand by me);
in the midst of tribulation,
stand by me (stand by me).
When the host of hell assail,
and my strength begins to fail,
thou who never lost a battle,
stand by me (stand by me).

In the midst of faults and failures,
stand by me (stand by me);
in the midst of faults and failures,
stand by me (stand by me).
When I do the best I can,
and my friends misunderstand,
thou who knowest all about me,
stand by me (stand by me).

Message:    “Now Is the Acceptable Time”            2 Corinthians 6:1-13

Commitment Hymn: “I Come With Joy”                     UMH#617 vs.1-3

I come with joy to meet my Lord,
forgiven, loved, and free;
in awe and wonder to recall
His life laid down for me.
His life laid down for me.

I come with Christians far and near
to find, as all are fed,
the new community of love
in Christ's communion bread,
in Christ's communion bread.

As Christ breaks bread
and bids us share,
each proud division ends;
the love that made us, makes us one,
and strangers now are friends.
and strangers now are friends.

The Communion Service
Our Lord invites to his table all who love him,
who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.
Let us confess our sin before God and one another.

Prayer of Confession and Pardon
Merciful God,
We confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart.
Our faith has been tested
and we have stumbled.
Our feet have strayed
from the path of Christ
and we have wandered from you.
We have put our faith
in the loud voices of this world,
ignoring your whispers.
Forgive us, we pray.
We do want to follow Jesus, the Christ, in whose name we pray.
Amen.

(Leader) Hear the good news:
Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. That proves Gods love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

(All)
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
Glory to God, Amen.

Bread and Cup

Unison Prayer:
Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Strengthen us in mind, body and soul for the days ahead. May your Spirit fill us as we live and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Closing Song    “I Come With Joy”   UMH #617 vs. 4-5
And thus with joy
we meet our Lord.
His presence, always near,
is in such friendship better known:
we see and praise Him here.
we see and praise Him here.

Together met, together bound,
we'll go our different ways;
and as His people in the world,
we'll live and speak His praise,
we'll live and speak His praise.

Benediction

Unison Prayer
The righteous flourish like a palm tree, they grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age, they stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is our Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” Amen

Commitment Hymn   “Hymn of Promise”    UMH#707 all verses

In the bulb, there is a flower
In the seed, an apple tree
In cocoons, a hidden promise
Butterflies will soon be free
In the cold and snow of winter
There's a spring that waits to be
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

There's a song in every silence
Seeking word and melody
There's a dawn in every darkness
Bringing hope to you and me
From the past will come the future
What it holds, a mystery
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

In our end is our beginning
In our time, infinity
In our doubt, there is believing
In our life, eternity
In our death, a resurrection
At the last, a victory
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

Benediction:
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.

May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing

let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I ay have the grace to
let you be my servant too.

We are pilgrims on a journey;
we’re together on this road.
We are here to help each other
walk the mile and bear the load.

When we sing to God in heaven,
we shall find such harmony,
Born of all we’ve known together
of Christ’s love and agony.
