Welcome and Announcements Welcoming the Light of Christ – please light a candle CALL TO WORSHIP Calling Song “Halle, Halle, Halleluja” TFWS #2026-a Halle, Halle, Halleluja! Halle, Halle, Halleluja! Halle, Halle, Halleluja! Halleluja! Haleluja! Responsive Reading from Psalm 23 Leader: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. People: The Lord is my shepherd. Leader: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff – they comfort me. People: The Lord is my shepherd. Leader: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. All: The Lord is my shepherd. Unison Invocation Lord Jesus, we come into your presence freely admitting we need a shepherd. We, like sheep, have gone astray. We need to be reminded that you are the shepherd and we are the sheep. Call us by name for we have lost our way. Lead us to that place of still waters and green pastures as we pray in your name. Amen. Hymn “He Leadeth Me” UMH #128 He leadeth me, O blessed thought! O words with heavenly comfort fraught! What e’er I do, where’er I be, Still ‘tis my God that leadeth me. Refrain He leadeth me, he leadeth me, By his own hand he leadeth me, His faithful follower I would be, For by his hand he leadeth me. Sometime ‘mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom, by waters still, o’er troubled sea, still ‘tis his hand that leadeth me Refrain And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory’s won, e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me. Refrain Gospel Reading John 10:1-10 New Testament Reading 1 Peter 2:19-25 God’s Word for God’s People. Thanks be to God! Prayers of the People Offering our gifts and tithes Offering prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the “giver of every good and perfect gift.” Thank you. Bless these offerings that they may accomplish more than we ever thought possible. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. Message “They Devoted Themselves” Acts 2:42-47 Response to the Word I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. The Communion Service Communion Hymn “Open Our Eyes Lord” TFWS #2086 Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus, To reach out and touch him, and say that we love him. Open our ears, Lord, and help us to listen. Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus. Our Lord invites to his table all who love him, Who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Let us confess our sin before God and one another. Prayer of Confession and Pardon Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. Our faith has been tested and we have stumbled. Forgive us, we pray. Our feet have strayed from the path of Christ and we have wandered from you. Forgive us, we pray. We have put our faith in the loud voices of this world, ignoring your whispers. Forgive us, we pray. We do want to follow Jesus, the Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen. Hear the good news; Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. That proves God’s love for us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Bread and Cup Please take the bread. Please take the cup. Please pray: Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Strengthen us in mind, body and soul for the days ahead. May your Spirit fill us as we live and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. *Commitment Hymn “Spirit of the Living God” UMH #393 Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me. Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me. Melt me. Mold me. Fill me. Use me. Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me. Benediction May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you wherever he may send you. May he guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm. May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you. May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors Thank you for Worshiping with us today!
