Welcome and Announcements

“The Family of God”

I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God -
I’ve been washed in the fountain,
cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus
as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
the family of God.

Hymn    “Jesus Shall Reign”    UMH#157 vs. 1,2
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
does its successive journeys run;
his kingdom spread from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

To Jesus endless prayer be made,
And endless praises crown his head;
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice.

Responsive Reading Psalm 93
The Lord reigns, God is robed in majesty and with the Lord’s strength the world is established, firm and secure.
Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.
The Lord is mightier than the thunder of the great waters and mightier than the great waters.
Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.

Unison Prayer (From Psalm 47)
God, we come to you today united through the ascension of your son, who ascended amid shouts of joy, He subdued nations and peoples. He secured his inheritance, we who were chosen by him come together to sing praises and shout with joy hoping your praise will be acknowledged by all people and nations, and thank you for establishing his throne and at your right hand. Amen

Hymn        “Change My Heart, O God”     TFWS#2152
Change my heart, O God,
make it ever true.
Change my heart, O God,
may I be like you.

You are the Potter,
I am the clay.
Mold me and make me,
this is what I pray.

Change my heart, O God,
make it ever true.
Change my heart, O God,
may I be like you.

Hymn        “Rejoice, the Lord Is King”        UMH#715 vs. 1,2
Rejoice, the Lord is King!
Your Lord and King adore;
Mortals give thanks and
sing, and triumph evermore;
Lift up your heart,
lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Jesus, the Savior, reigns,
the God of truth and love;
When He had purged our stains
He took His seat above;
Lift up your heart,
lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Commitment Hymn    “As a Fire Is Meant for Burning”       TFWS#2237

As a fire is meant for burning
with a bright and warming flame,
so the church is meant for mission,
giving glory to God's name.
Not to preach our creeds or customs,
but to build a bridge of care,
we join hands across the nations,
finding neighbors everywhere.

We are learners; we are teachers;
we are pilgrims on the way.
We are seekers; we are givers;
we are vessels made of clay.
By our gentle loving actions,
we would show that Christ is light.
in a humble, listening spirit,
we would live to God's delight.

As a green bud in the springtime
is a sign of life renewed,
so may we be signs of oneness
mid earth's peoples many hued.
As a rainbow lights the heavens
when a storm is past and gone,
may our lives reflect the radiance
of God's new and glorious dawn.

Benediction:
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.

May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders he has shown you.

May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
