January 22, 2023 – 11:00 AM Welcome and Announcements Gathering Hymn: “Family of God” Calling Song: “Come, Thou Almighty King” UMH#61 vs. 1-3 Responsive Reading: Psalm 27:1, 4-9 (CEB) - Glenora Wright One: The Lord is my light and my salvation. Should I fear anyone? Many: The Lord is a fortress protecting my life. Should I be frightened of anything? One: I have asked one thing from the Lord—it’s all I seek: to live in the Lord’s house all the days of my life, seeing the Lord’s beauty and constantly adoring God’s temple. Many: Because God will shelter me in God’s own dwelling during troubling times; God will hide me in a secret place in God’s own tent; God will set me up high, safe on a rock. One: Now my head is higher than the enemies surrounding me, and I will offer sacrifices in God’s tent—sacrifices with shouts of joy! I will sing and praise the Lord. Many: Lord, listen to my voice when I cry out—have mercy on me and answer me! One: Come, my heart says, seek God’s face. Many: Lord, I do seek your face! Please don’t hide it from me! One: Don’t push your servant aside angrily—you have been my help! Many: God who saves me, don’t neglect me! Don’t leave me all alone! One: This is our prayer. Many: Lord, hear our prayer. Opening Prayer (in unison) - Glenora Wright O God, who by the leading of a star did manifest your only-begotten Son to all people: lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may behold your glory face-to-face; through Christ our Lord, Amen. And all the people said: Many: Amen. May God bless you and keep you; may God’s face shine upon you and be gracious unto you; may God’s countenance be lifted upon you and give you peace, from this day forth and forevermore. Many: And now, God, send us out to do the work that you have given us to do: to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To Christ, to you, and to the Holy Spirit be all honor and glory, now and forever, Amen.
