I will say, “This is the day that the Lord has made.” I will rejoice, For he has made me glad. He has made me glad, he has made me glad. I will rejoice, for he has made me glad. He has made me glad, he has made me glad. I will rejoice, for he has made me glad. Responsive Reading Leader: I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. People: My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice! All: Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Unison Invocation O Heavenly Father, We stammer our praise and thanksgiving for the extravagance of your gifts that often leave us tongue-tied and teary-eyed. We praise you for the surprises of grace that catch us off guard and fill our struggles with hope, our defeats with timeless lessons and with the fresh possibilities that well up from the old promises you always find ways to keep through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Hymn: “Take My Life and Let It Be” UMH#399 vs. 1,2,3 Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee. Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Your love. Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee. Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King. Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from thee. Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold. Take my intellect, and use every power as You shall choose. Take my will, and make it Yours; it shall be no longer mine. Take my heart, it is Your own; it shall be Your royal throne. Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Your feet its treasure store. Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for thee. Offering our gifts and tithes Offering Prayer Old Testament Reading - Psalm 130 New Testament Reading - John 6:35 and 41-51 God’s Word for God’s People. Thanks be to God! Hymn: “Jesu, Jesu” UMH#432 vs 1,2,3 Jesu, Jesu fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you. Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet, Master who acts as a slave to them Jesu, Jesu fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you. Neighbors are rich and poor, neighbors are black and white, neighbors are near and far away. Jesu, Jesu fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you. These are the ones we should serve, these are the ones we should love; all these neighbors to us and you. Prayers of the People Message: “Rules or Results” Ephesians 4:25- 5:2 Closing Hymn “As a Fire Is Meant for Burning” TFWS#2237 vs 1,2 As a fire is meant for burning with a bright and warming flame, so the church is meant for mission, giving glory to God's name. Not to preach our creeds or customs, but to build a bridge of care, we join hands across the nations, finding neighbors everywhere. We are learners; we are teachers; we are pilgrims on the way. We are seekers; we are givers; we are vessels made of clay. By our gentle loving actions, we would show that Christ is light. in a humble, listening spirit, we would live to God's delight. Benediction: May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you wherever he may send you. May he guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm. May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you. May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors. Postlude Thank you for Worshiping with us today!
