Welcome and Announcements

“The Family of God”

I'm so glad I'm a part
of the family of God
I've been washed in the fountain
Cleansed by His blood
Joint heirs with Jesus
As we travel this sod
For I'm part of the family
The family of God

Hymn “Praise to the Lord, Almighty"   UMH#139 vs. 1,5
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
the King of creation.
O my soul, praise him,
for he is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
now to his temple draw near;
join me in glad adoration!

Praise to the Lord!
O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath,
come now with praises before him!
Let the amen
sound from his people again;
gladly forever adore him.

Responsive Reading       Psalm 145:3-7

Leader: Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his people.
People: How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them.
Leader: Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails.
People: Who can forget the wonders he performs? How gracious and merciful is our Lord!
All: Praise his name forever!

Unison Invocation
O God, the wonder of it all is that we are here at all, in this specific place and time, living these distinctive lives on this unique planet. The wonder of it all is that we are not lost in the stars that you move in our very real lives, challenging us with friends and adversaries, stirring us with stories, music and prayers that bind us to one another and You.
We come to You in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Hymn: “In Unity We Lift Our Song”  TFWS#2221 vs. 1,2
In unity we lift our song
of grateful adoration,
for brothers brave and sisters strong.
What cause for celebration!
For those whose faithfulness
has kept us through distress,
who've shared with us our plight,
who've held us in the night,
the blessed congregation.

For stories told and told again
to every generation,
to give us strength in time of pain,
to give us consolation.
Our spirits to revive
to keep our dreams alive,
when we are far from home
and evil seasons come;
how firm is our foundation.

Offering our gifts and tithes
Offering Prayer

Hymn “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”  UMH#462 vs. 1,2,3
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord!"
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Yes, tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

I'm so glad I learned to trust Him,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that He is with me,
Will be with me to the end.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Prayers of the People

Message:    “Be Careful How You Live”        Ephesians 5:15-21

Closing Hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus”         UMH#526 all vs.

I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back, no turning back

The world behind me,
the cross before me … x 3
no turning back, no turning back

Though none go with me
still I will follow… x 3
no turning back, no turning back

Benediction:

May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.

May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders he has shown you.

May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
