Hi Everyone! February 8, 2024
Ron and I would be boarding our ship today in Barcelona if the cruise hadn’t been canceled. We were disappointed for sure but we are trusting that we are meant to cruise around Europe in September. We can’t complain! Bring your checkbooks to church on Sunday. Our own Shane Wright is selling raffle tickets to benefit Special Olympics of Idaho. There are some fabulous prizes including a Toyota Tacoma pickup, two vacation prizes, gas for a year and other prizes. The raffle tickets are $10 each. Let’s support Shane and his fellow Olympians! Danny Crego gave us some good news last week in church. He will soon be a provisional member of our conference sometime in March. This means his education and willingness to serve has paid off and he can look forward to becoming a chaplain or anything else he wants. Danny thanked us, his congregation for the support through the years. We are certainly proud of you Danny! We will be having an Ash Wednesday Service this coming Wednesday, February 14th at 7 p.m. This service will be in the Fellowship Hall. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. I talked with Jean Stephan’s daughter in law Carol this week. A funeral for Jean is being planned for Saturday, April 6th at 1:00 p.m. at PUMC. I will have more details closer to the date. Weiser Little Theater has postponed the play Mom’s Gift due to illness. They will reschedule it the last part of March and first part of April. We have some prayer requests this week. Leslie and Gary Olson won’t be traveling South right now because Leslie is having some medical issues. Please keep Leslie and Gary in your prayers. Pastor Mary Beth’s mom Nancy is recovering from her back surgery nicely but has started having some expected nerve pain in her legs. Keep praying for Nancy. Glenora’s son in law, Jim Bottorff has been fighting pneumonia and possible blood clots for the past couple of weeks. Please pray for Jim and Tina. Anne DeBord may have to have surgery to open up the veins in her lower legs. She has to meet with a specialist in the near future. Keep praying for Anne. Lyna is asking us to pray for her cousin’s baby daughter Evelynn. She recently had surgery to place a shunt to remove liquid from her brain. Please pray for Evelynn’s mom Kaila too. Of course, keep these folks on your prayer list: Hugh Homan, Letha Essinger, Irene Jeffries, Pam Hardenbrook, Shannon Osborn, Jenny, Josh, Jan Bolin, and Lis Williamson. We will be singing two new praise songs with James this Sunday. They are Glorious Day and God With Us. Click on the links, listen in and sing along to prepare for Sunday’s service. We are sounding pretty darn good lately! Something that our pastor said last Sunday has stayed with me all week. She said, “Remember, God loves everyone and God likes everyone!” I like that! Have a great rest of the week and we hope to see you here on Sunday. Blessings, Cris
