Hi Everyone! July 27, 2023
I’m baaaack! Ron and I had a fantastic time in Illinois and Wisconsin visiting Ron’s family. The weather was unbelievably great with temps in the 70’s, low humidity and a slight breeze. We did have one day of rain but I didn’t mind. It was great spending time with family and friends. One little side note: on the rainy day we went to a casino and I won $300! I found out that winning is a lot more fun than losing! As a bonus we were able to meet up with members of my family in Salt Lake City so that was great too. It is good to be home. Here's some great news; Macy Steckley is home! She is doing well and is glad to be home. She appreciates the prayers. Jean Pollock is home from the hospital too! She is doing much better and has therapy scheduled to treat her vertigo. Preparation for our School Supply Fair is in high gear. We have been shopping, counting and organizing and will be ready on Saturday, August 5th. We do need more help for that day. After looking at the sign-up sheet I see we are missing 5th grade classroom managers and escorts. Please sign up on Sunday or call the office and I’ll plug you into a spot! Come and help us love our community. If you are volunteering and would like to wear a shirt that says, “Work hard & be kind, that is all” there are a few on the pew in the entry way. If none of those work for you, get a plain shirt to the shirt to Teresa by Monday and she’ll fix it up. Jean Stephan’s 90th birthday party will be this Saturday, July 29th at the Payette Senior Center from 2-4. Her kids ask that you don’t bring gifts but cards are appreciated. A Fit and Fall Proof Class is returning to PUMC starting Tuesday, August 1st. This class is a safe way to gain strength and agility to prevent falls. Everyone is welcome to attend these classes which will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. There is one more big change to Coffee With the Pastor. Hopefully this will be the last change. Pastor Mary Beth is moving coffee back to Mondays from 9-12 and the location will be Border Town Coffee in Gayway Junction. Starting Monday, July 31st, join our pastor for coffee and she’ll even pay! The Sunday morning Sunday School Class is taking the month of August off. The last class will be on Sunday, July 30th and will resume on Sunday, September 10th. If you are interested in joining this adult class, September will be an excellent time to start attending. We will have a taco feed after church this Sunday, July 30th. The United Methodist Men are putting it all together which we appreciate! There will be a free will offering for this meal and some of what is given will go towards refinishing the entrance ramp. The blessing pitcher for this same project will be out for a few more weeks. On the morning of our School Supply Fair, Saturday, August 5th, the Clothing Closet will be open. That will be an excellent opportunity for folks to become familiar with this service and pick up some school clothes. We have prayer requests this week. We have been praying for Steve Simonson who had brain surgery a couple of weeks ago. We now find out that cancer was detected. He will have both chemo and radiation. Keep Steve and his family in your prayers. Teresa Beer is asking for prayers for her grandson due in November. A cyst was detected on his lung during an ultrasound. Please keep his parents, Austin and Jalani in your prayers too. Keep Macy, Hugh and Jean Pollock in your prayers. We need them back to their best! Keep the following folks in your prayers: Anne DeBord, Jan Bolin, Teresa’s stepdad Larry, Olivia Bybee, Terry Hershey, Mary Boesch, Jim and Jerry Warzyn, Jay and Jerry Hall, Shannon Osborn, the Jeffries, the Williamsons, and Frank Gordon. The worship song this week is Your Love Never Fails. Please click on the blue link and become familiar with it before Sunday. We hope to see you Sunday morning! Stay for tacos! Blessings, Cris
