Responsive Reading from  Psalm 148
Leader: Praise the Lord!  Praise the Lord from the heavens,
             Praise the Lord, in the heights
People:  Praise the Lord, all his angels,
               Praise the Lord, all his hosts!
Leader: Praise the Lord, sun and moon,
               Praise the Lord, all shining stars!
People:  Praise the Lord, highest heavens,
               And all waters above the heavens!
Leader:  Let them praise the name of the Lord,
                Who commanded and they were created,
People:  who established them for ever and ever,
                And fixed their bounds which cannot be passed.
Leader:  Praise the Lord from the earth,
                Sea monsters and all deeps,
People:  Fire and hail, snow and smoke,
                Stormy wind fulfilling God’s command!
Leader:  Mountains and all hills,
                Fruit trees and all cedars!
People:  Beasts and all cattle,
                Creeping things and flying birds!
Leader:  Kings of the earth and all peoples,
                Princes and all rulers of the earth!
People:  Young men and maidens together,
                Old men and children!
Leader:  Let them praise the name of the Lord,
                Whose name alone is exalted,
                Whose glory is above earth and heaven.
People:  God has raised up a horn for his people,
                Praise for all his faithful ones,
                For the people of Israel who are near their God.
                Praise the Lord!

The Apostles’ Creed:
                I believe in God the Father Almighty,
                   Maker of heaven and earth.
                And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
                   Who was conceived by the Holy spirit,
                   Born of the Virgin Mary,
                   Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
                   Was crucified, dead and buried;
                   The third day he rose from the dead;
                   He ascended into heaven,
                   And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
                   From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
                I believe in the Holy  Spirit,
                   The holy catholic church
                   The communion of saints,
                   The forgiveness of sins,
                   The resurrection of the body,
                   And the life everlasting.  Amen.

Unison Invocation:
O God, you have bound us together in this life.  Help us to understand
how we can share and work together to change and transform our
society and this world, so that it might more fully reflect your spirit.
Also, o Lord, give us grace to understand how our lives depend on the
courage, the industry, the honesty, and the integrity of all who labor.
May we be mindful of their needs, grateful for their faithfulness, and
faithful in our responsibilities to them;  through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Hymn  “For the Healing of the Nations”  #428  UM Hymnal
1.  For the healing of the nations, Lord we pray with one accord;
    For a just and equal sharing of the things  that earth affords;
     To a life of love in action help us rise and pledge our word,
     Help us rise and pledge our word.
2.  Lead us forward into freedom;  from despair your world release ,
     That, redeemed from war and hatred, all may come and go in peace.
     Show us how through care and goodness fear will die and hope increase,
     Fear may die, and hope increase.
3.  All that kills abundant living, let it from the earth be banned;
     Pride of status, race or schooling, dogmas that obscure your plan.
     In our common quest for justice may be hallow life’s brief span,
     May we hallow life’s brief span.
4.  You, Creator God, have written your great name on humankind;
     For our growing in your likeness bring the life of Christ to mind,
    That by our response and service earth its destiny may find,
    Earth its destiny may find.

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord's Prayer (in Unison)
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Scripture:  Exodus 12:1-4  and Romans 13:8-12

Message   “Looking toward Change”     Rev. Don Watt

The Sacrament of Holy Communion
    The Great Thanksgiving
Pastor:  The Lord be with you.
People:  And also with you.
Pastor:  Lift up your  hearts.
People:  We lift them up to the Lord.
Pastor:  Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People:  It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Pastor:  It is right, and a good and joyful thing,
                   always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
                   father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
              And so, with your people on earth
              And all the company of heaven
              We praise your name and join their unending hymn:
All:  Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
        Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
           Hosanna in the highest.
       Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
           Hosanna in the highest.
Pastor continues and concludes with:
      And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in
      Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving
          As a holy and living sacrifice,
           In union with Christ’s offering for us,
      As we proclaim the mystery of faith.
All:  Christ has died;  Christ is risen;  Christ will come again.
(Pastor concludes communion service)

Commitment Hymn  “Jesus the Very Thought of Thee”  #175 UM Hymnal
1.  Jesus, the very thought of thee
     With sweetness fills the breast;
     But sweeter far thy face to see,
     And in thy presence rest.
2.  O hope of every contrite heart,
     O joy of all the meek
     to those who fall, how kind thou art!
    How good to those who seek!
3.  But what to those who find!
     Ah, this nor tongue nor pen can show;
    The love of Jesus what it is,
    None but his loved ones know.
4.  Jesus, our only joy be thou,
    As thou our prize wilt be;
    Jesus, be thou our glory now,
    And through eternity.

Unison Benediction:
May the peace of the LORD Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.
May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
