Hi Everyone! March 12, 2025
The Treasure Valley Chorale presents the Songs of Love Concert this Friday at TVCC starting at 7:30 p.m. Our own Caleb Smith will be performing with the chorale. Tickets are only $5. This is sure to be an enjoyable night of music! Don’t forget to get your tickets to Weiser Little Theater’s production of Bedlam and Breakfast starting April 10th. Dianne Kinney is the producer and it will be great. Just google Weiser Little Theater or call 208-549-9355 for tickets. There has been a lot of falling going with PUMC folks. Bob Steckley, Anne DeBord and Sharon Parsons all had falls at home last week. I keep saying NO more falling but that hasn’t helped. Don’t forget we have an exercise group for men and women that meets here Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. for prevention of falls. It is totally free and you can work at your own level. When I walk through the fellowship hall once in a while I can see progress from each member. The leader, Karen Sagehorn will help customize the exercises just for you. Why not consider joining the Fit and Fall Proof Class next week? The Trustee Committee will meet on Monday, March 17th at 6:15 in the fireside room with the Ad Board following at 7:00. Everyone is invited to attend both of these meetings. Mike and Bonnie Hall made it home safely from Arizona this week. They had a great time. Tony and Roxanne will travel home starting on Sunday. They are having a great time in their rental house that has a fence for Ashley. Pray for safe travels for them. I have good news about Grace Hammon and her sister Jo. Jo is recovering nicely from her bout with the flu but has a lingering cough. Grace didn’t get the flu even though they share a space at Brookdale. Good job Grace! Pray for good health for the both of them! Catherine Fry’s nephew Butch is in hospice care. He has been fighting the good fight for a couple of years. Please pray for Butch and his family, his wife Catherine, and his two children. He was hoping to make it to hold his first grandchild this July, but it is not to be. Mike Hall’s sister-in-law Jeanette fell from bleachers in Arizona and both of her legs are broken! She will have to stay in Arizona for a while to recuperate in rehab. Pray for a quick recovery for Jeanette. Dalyce’s neighbors Don and Carol Haney are in need of prayer. They lost their son Kenny a few weeks ago. Don just had knee replacement surgery and now his mom just passed away. They have a had a rough couple of months. Keep this family in your prayers. Gary Olson will start his radiation treatments soon. He will have them in Fruitland every week day for 28 total treatments. Keep Gary and Leslie in your prayers as they put up this fight! Sarah Greif Olson passed away last week. She found out she had cancer and less than two weeks later she passed away. PUMC will host her funeral on Saturday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. It is expected that it will be well attended. If you can help, please contact Glenora or me. Laura Tompkins works in Social Services and asks us to pray for her clients and those around the country as they fear that services will be cut by our current administration. Along the same theme, special services for school children may be next for cuts. This would include special education students, English language learners and so many more. I’m certainly no expert but I love kids and know that the disruption isn’t good for anyone. Please hold this situation in prayer. Lyna Wilkins asks us to pray for Amy Nelson. She just started chemotherapy. Pastor Mary Beth will take her second Praxis exam this Thursday afternoon and asks us to pray for her. She hasn’t heard about her score from the first one yet because it contained written answers that must be scored by a human! Keep these folks in your prayers: Ed Parsons, Megan Palmer, Lis Williamson, Grace Hammon and Jo, Irene Jeffries, Shane Wright, Todd Lambert, Danny Crego. Pastor Mary Beth has been focusing on the Psalms during lent. She encourages us to pray the psalms during lent. There is a guide available in the entryway for us to follow. I’m a bit late thinking of this but I can give you a week’s worth to follow. March 13th Psalm 68-70, March 14th Psalm 71-74, March 15th Psalm 75-78, March 16th Psalm 79-85, March 17th Psalm 86-89, March 18th Psalm 90-94, March 19th Psalm 95-101.
