Hi Everyone!                                                October 17, 2024
Dig out your sweaters, gloves and sweatshirts! The cool weather is here. While you are digging around in your cool weather gear, grab a blanket to bring to the Payette High School football game this Friday.  Our own Kathryn, Caleb and Lizzy will be honored for Senior Night which starts at 6:15 p.m.  I’m hoping that we can make a good showing for our PUMC seniors! Caleb will be honored for football directly after the band. Let’s make the effort!
We will have Lifeline Screening here at PUMC on Thursday, November 14th. Life Line Screening will offer safe, painless, non-invasive preventive health screenings that are typically not a part of a routine physical.  If you are interested in these screenings, please talk to me because I do have access to a few discounts.
Save the date of Sunday, November 10th because our UMM will serve tacos after church that day. There is some talk of repeating the ice cream sundae bar! 😊      ( I will remind you again.)
I hope you have noticed how beautiful our lawn has looked this year. We have people in our congregation who regularly show up to pull weeds, trim bushes and hedges, spray weeds and more but most of the credit for the actual lawn goes to our lawn guy, Mahon Nightingale. He not only mows but fertilizes and adjusts and repairs the sprinkler system throughout the summer and as a bonus he’s a nice guy! This is the time of year I ask for Tips for Mahlon. The tip jar will be out for two Sundays. Cash is easiest. If you appreciate his work and have a few bucks to put in the jar, I’d sure appreciate it!
For the last time this year I’m reminding you about our annual Charge Conference this coming Monday, the 21st at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend. The Ad Board will meet right after the Charge Conference. Please stay for that meeting too!
Karen Sagehorn sent some good news this week. Her son and daughter in law have been wanting to expand their family and it looks like they will adopt 7th grade sisters in the near future! Please keep these girls and Karen’s kids in your prayers and pray for everything to go perfectly.
We have some prayer requests this week. Deanna Carr asked us to pray for the family of Cassie Goodfellow who passed away recently. This family has had many trials so pray for peace.
Pastor Mary Beth witnessed the wreck last Saturday morning on I-84 just this side of the Idaho border. One victim passed away at the scene and many more were involved. Please pray for everyone involved and the family of the woman who passed away.
Please keep praying for the people in Florida as they recover from two hurricanes just days apart. If you would like to donate money for relief, UMCOR is a great place to send it. It’s easy to do too. Just make a check to our church and write UMCOR in the memo like along with the word hurricanes. Glenora will make sure it gets to the right place.
As always, pray for our world and especially the Middle East and Ukraine. They are certainly a complicated situations and what we can do is pray.
With the election happening in just little under three weeks please pray for our country. We need the prayers!
Keep these folks in your prayers: Kurtis Haren, Lis Williamson, Grace Hammon, Peyton, Lexi, The Taylor Family, Landon Warner, Carmen’s cousin Tory, Irene Jeffries, Peggy Roach and Brandon Baumler’s family.
Pastor Mary Beth will be bringing the sermon to us via video this Sunday. She would like us to read Revelation 19:11 through chapter 20 before church on Sunday.
We are all blessed again today with the gift of life. Thank God and let’s make something good today. Help others who need it. Think of others who are less fortunate. One positive thought in the morning can change our whole day!
We hope to see you in church on Sunday!
Blessings,
Cris
