Hi Everyone! October 24, 2024
Our annual Charge Conference went well. Our reports were well received and we had good discussions and heard good ideas from Rev. Dr. Rob Walters. It’s another charge conference in the books! At the short Ad Board meeting afterward, we chose the date for our annual Winter Festival. It will be on Friday, December 6th this year. Glenora will be in charge again and it will be great. We will need raffle baskets again so please let us know if you can put one together. This event takes everyone’s help so get fired up and let’s do this! We asked for candy for Trunk or Treat and you brought candy! Those kids will be so happy! Thank you so much for the donations. We will be good to go. Now we just need the cars to give it out. Please arrive by 4:30 on Halloween so we can get your cars parked and be ready for the trunk or treaters at 5:00. It will be fun! The November/December editions of The Upper Room are available in the entryway. If you need help getting one, please let me know. This will be the last Sunday to donate towards Tips for Mahlon. He’s the great guy who takes such good care of our lawn. The jar will be in the normal place. Cash is easiest. We had a decent size, loud group of supporters at the PHS football game there to support Kathryn, Caleb and Lizzy last Friday night. All three definitely knew we were there! As a bonus, the marching band was excellent and the football team won the game. (It probably had something to do with us.) A big thank you everyone! I have some good news this week. Brandon Baumler was hired by Idaho Power as a foreman! Excellent job Brandon; we are proud of you. Things are up in the air a bit for Danny in regards to the position he applied for as the liaison but he is definitely in the running. Pray that everything goes well in the rest of the process. We have some prayer requests this week. I received word that Bill Bommersbach passed away on Monday night. Bill owned and ran Payette Printing and was a great guy. His wife Karen attended church here and we considered them both to be part of our church family. Please pray for their kids Tara and Travis and their families. A celebration of life for Bill will be held at the Kiwanis Park Lodge in Payette this Saturday from 1-4 p.m. Kurtis Haren is near the end of his short life. Please pray for Kurtis and his whole family. This is a very hard time for them all. Deanna Carr is suffering with a back pain. Please keep her in your prayers. Dalyce Knight has two prayer requests. Her daughter Kristy was recently in the hospital with sepsis. She is healing and is now home. Please pray for a complete, quick recovery. Dalyce’s neighbor’s son has been diagnosed with leukemia and would appreciate our prayers. Danny Crego asked us to pray for a coworker. He doesn’t have details but God knows! Three of the exercise folks are in need of prayer. Joan had an anaphylactic reaction to something she ate and is hospitalized. She was very scared not being able to breathe. It sounds like she is safe now. Piper had to get a secondary mammogram and was scared but things look better for her too. The cysts proved to be benign. Amen to that! Karen Sagehorn is being stalked by a man who is very persistent. Karen is scared and rightfully so. The police have been notified. Please pray for Karen to be safe. This Sunday is All Saints Day at church. We will be remembering those who passed before us. It is a special ceremony. If you’d like a loved one’s name mentioned, please write the name on an index card, put in the basket and our pastor will read the name. If you’d like me to write the name, call me by Thursday at noon and I’ll be glad to do that. The cards will be available on Sunday before church too. Last Sunday, Dalyce was the liturgist and she read this: “Welcome to the place of love and grace; the place of hope and perseverance.” I just love that. And in the sermon our pastor reminded us that God sees us and loves us just as we are. Think about that for a minute because it is powerful. Blessings, Cris Payette United Methodist Church

Hi Everyone! October 17, 2024
Dig out your sweaters, gloves and sweatshirts! The cool weather is here. While you are digging around in your cool weather gear, grab a blanket to bring to the Payette High School football game this Friday. Our own Kathryn, Caleb and Lizzy will be honored for Senior Night which starts at 6:15 p.m. I’m hoping that we can make a good showing for our PUMC seniors! Caleb will be honored for football directly after the band. Let’s make the effort! We will have Lifeline Screening here at PUMC on Thursday, November 14th. Life Line Screening will offer safe, painless, non-invasive preventive health screenings that are typically not a part of a routine physical. If you are interested in these screenings, please talk to me because I do have access to a few discounts. Save the date of Sunday, November 10th because our UMM will serve tacos after church that day. There is some talk of repeating the ice cream sundae bar! 😊 ( I will remind you again.) I hope you have noticed how beautiful our lawn has looked this year. We have people in our congregation who regularly show up to pull weeds, trim bushes and hedges, spray weeds and more but most of the credit for the actual lawn goes to our lawn guy, Mahon Nightingale. He not only mows but fertilizes and adjusts and repairs the sprinkler system throughout the summer and as a bonus he’s a nice guy! This is the time of year I ask for Tips for Mahlon. The tip jar will be out for two Sundays. Cash is easiest. If you appreciate his work and have a few bucks to put in the jar, I’d sure appreciate it! For the last time this year I’m reminding you about our annual Charge Conference this coming Monday, the 21st at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend. The Ad Board will meet right after the Charge Conference. Please stay for that meeting too! Karen Sagehorn sent some good news this week. Her son and daughter in law have been wanting to expand their family and it looks like they will adopt 7th grade sisters in the near future! Please keep these girls and Karen’s kids in your prayers and pray for everything to go perfectly. We have some prayer requests this week. Deanna Carr asked us to pray for the family of Cassie Goodfellow who passed away recently. This family has had many trials so pray for peace. Pastor Mary Beth witnessed the wreck last Saturday morning on I-84 just this side of the Idaho border. One victim passed away at the scene and many more were involved. Please pray for everyone involved and the family of the woman who passed away. Please keep praying for the people in Florida as they recover from two hurricanes just days apart. If you would like to donate money for relief, UMCOR is a great place to send it. It’s easy to do too. Just make a check to our church and write UMCOR in the memo like along with the word hurricanes. Glenora will make sure it gets to the right place. As always, pray for our world and especially the Middle East and Ukraine. They are certainly a complicated situations and what we can do is pray. With the election happening in just little under three weeks please pray for our country. We need the prayers! Keep these folks in your prayers: Kurtis Haren, Lis Williamson, Grace Hammon, Peyton, Lexi, The Taylor Family, Landon Warner, Carmen’s cousin Tory, Irene Jeffries, Peggy Roach and Brandon Baumler’s family. Pastor Mary Beth will be bringing the sermon to us via video this Sunday. She would like us to read Revelation 19:11 through chapter 20 before church on Sunday. We are all blessed again today with the gift of life. Thank God and let’s make something good today. Help others who need it. Think of others who are less fortunate. One positive thought in the morning can change our whole day! We hope to see you in church on Sunday! Blessings, Cris Adoration of the Mystic Lamb

A huge thank you to our pastor who put the whole event together and for everyone who helped out and donated money. You are appreciated! You are in for a treat! Let’s keep the hurricane victims in our prayers. Roxanne’s son Paul and daughter LaVonne and families were right in the path but are just fine. Amen to that! Pastor Mary Beth would like you to read Revelation 15:5-19:10 in preparation for Sunday’s sermon. Have a great rest of the week. Bless and be blessed. God’s light lives in us. He gives every one of us the gift to bless others. To honor Him is to use this gift. Blessings, Cris Adoration of the Mystic Lamb
