Call to Worship - Sharon Wada
One: Christ is risen!
Many: Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
One: God has turned our mourning into dancing!
Many: God has taken away our funeral clothes and re-clothed us in joy!
One: So let us sing a new song to the Lord, for God has done wonderful deeds!
Many: The whole earth has seen the salvation of our God! Alleluia!

Opening Prayer (in unison) - Sharon Wada
Resurrected Lord, we repeat our shouts of surprise and joy once again, for news of your victory over the powers of death and evil is news so startling, so amazing, so different from the news that bombards us day by day. Your good news surprises us again and again with life-giving grace and hope and joy; and so we praise you, our Risen Lord. Alleluia! Amen.

One: Go out into the world as the people of God, and may the God who raised Jesus from the dead grant you grace; may Jesus who gave his life for you give you peace; and may the Spirit who is with you day by day inspire you to greater service both now and forever more.
Many: Let us go as people living in the knowledge that through Jesus’ triumph over death, the gates of heaven are open for all! Alleluia!

In the church calendar, we are in the season known as Eastertide, or Easter. In Eastertide, we remember the resurrected Christ and we anticipate our own resurrection. We can celebrate this season by looking for signs of new life in the world around us. In the church calendar, Easter lasts for seven weeks, bringing us to the season of Pentecost. The colors that mark Easter are white and gold.

Hymn: “Up From the Grave He Arose”                  UMH#322 all vs.

Call to Worship     Mike Hall
One: Christ is risen!
Many: Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
One: We are not eye-witnesses to an event, as were Mary and the disciples; we have not journeyed through a dangerous city to seek answers or consolation; we have not seen angels gathering at the rim of this day, or wept in the garden this morning because we could not find Jesus.
Many: But we are here to attest to a story that has not lost its power during twenty centuries of change and conflict!
One: We are here because those before us carried this story as if it were precious gold; cherished it as if it were the key to a hidden wisdom.
Many: We are here today in celebration and in awe!
One: What we celebrate again today has the capacity to change the world!
Many: It is Easter again: and we will celebrate! Alleluia!

Hi Everyone!                                                                 April 3, 2025
I’m back at work full strength and happy to be feeling lots better. I appreciate the kind words and prayers from you. I’m not a big fan of pneumonia and I hope to never get it again.
This is the week when we start collecting food for our local food bank that is operated out of the Nazarene Church in Payette. I have a tub ready to go in the entryway so bring food if you can. Let’s help out our neighbors! If the first Sunday doesn’t work for you, the tub will be there every day and will be collected towards the first of each month.
Come early this Sunday if you can and help us stuff Easter eggs. We can finish after church if need be. We still need more candy to stuff in the eggs. Bring some with you to church if you can. We are pretty close on prizes. Bring prizes you have but don’t buy any more.
Our Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 12th from 1-3. There is sign up paper on the table in the entryway for those who can help. Please plan to arrive by 12:30 to help. It will be lots of fun!
Last year our Easter egg shirts were taken by someone who thought they were up for grabs. Weird huh? If you have a PUMC shirt please wear it that day so folks know who they can ask for help.
We will be having a Good Friday service on Friday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m.
Annie and Danny Crego are celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary this spring. Congrats to them!
Pastor Mary Beth passed the first Praxis test and will get the results from the second one any day now. Great job Mary Beth!
Carmen Kumagai is thankful for her work friends who showed up to help get Grace’s home ready to sell.
We received news from the Hershey family this week. Pascal’s mom passed away in Holland a few days ago. Pascal was with her when she passed. Please keep Pascal’s family in your prayers.
Lyn Hershey has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. It is a glioma that is hopefully low grade and non-cancerous. Lyn will see a neurologist soon and will know more then. The place where the tumor is in a place that would be a risky surgery so that might not be an option. Lyn is not in pain but is experiencing mild seizures, some confusion and a short-term memory loss. Lyn, Jeanie and the whole family ask that we pray for Lyn. I assured them that we will.
I had a nice visit with Ed Parsons today. He is in hospice care now. He is comfortable and has good people taking care of him. He says he has good days and bad but he is OK. He doesn’t have to go to doctors’ appointments now. All of his care comes to him. Give him a call when you can. Keep Ed and his family in your prayers.
We received the news this morning that Ruby Cramer passed away. She was part of the Ontario UMC and began worshipping with us after they closed. Please keep her husband John and the whole family in your prayers.
I got the news that Bonnie Hall had a bad fall and broke her upper arm. She is in a lot of pain. Please pray for Bonnie.
Brandon’s kids’ Great Uncle Dennis has started chemo and radiation. Please pray for Dennis.
Mike and Bonnie Hall’s good friend Pat Smith recently had a hysterectomy where some cancer cells were found. Please pray for Pat as she fights cancer and recovers from major surgery.
Please pray for Doris Homan as she recovers from pneumonia.
There sure are a lot of prayer requests this week. Please be faithful and pray for these loved ones constantly.
As we heard on Sunday from our pastor, God’s faithful love surrounds us.
Blessings,
Cris
